Episcopal Health Foundation: Community Health and Stability in Houston’s Northside

Episcopal Health Foundation is a catalytic partner in Avenue’s work to strengthen neighborhoods by activating community voices, addressing health inequities, and promoting multi-sector collaboration across Houston’s Greater Northside.
Through a $150,000 investment in general operating support, Episcopal Health Foundation helps fuel every facet of Avenue’s mission – from resident services and community engagement to affordable housing development and long-term neighborhood revitalization. This flexible funding allows Avenue to respond to community needs in real time, align programs with strategy, strengthen internal capacity, and advance complex housing initiatives that anchor healthy, stable communities.
In addition, Episcopal Health Foundation’s $135,000 renewed investment sustains and strengthens the work of Communities y Salud under the Texas Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (TACHI) initiative. This funding supports a multi-sectoral, place-based collaboration leading community-driven health equity work in Houston’s Greater Northside, with Avenue serving as the backbone agency. Through TACHI, Avenue and its partners – Legacy Community Health, Wesley Community Center, M.D. Anderson YMCA, and Memorial Hermann – work alongside residents to improve access to health resources, strengthen trust, and build pathways to healthier outcomes. This work is grounded in lived experience and sustained engagement, rather than one-time interventions.
Together, these investments reflect Episcopal Health Foundation’s commitment to holistic, place-based solutions—recognizing that stable housing, community voice, and health are deeply interconnected.
