As we move into spring, our COVID vaccine work in partnership with Houston in Action is winding down. Avenue coordinated vaccines for more than 1,100 residents at 17 partner sites since August 2021. Vaccine events were strategically organized with local schools and churches to provide equitable access to residents and the community. In addition to vaccine administration, we engaged over 6,000 community members through phone and text banking, vaccine events and other outreach efforts.

Most recently, Avenue partnered with Burbank Middle School and the Houston Health Department to host a vaccine event where 187 people received a vaccine. “Thanks to these efforts, 75% of the BIPOC population in Northline is vaccinated compared to 59% in Harris County”, said Claudia Sanchez, Avenue’s Director of Community Initiatives.
