Houston’s median sales price increased to nearly $360,000 in 2022 and demand for single-family homes, which represent the vast majority of the market, is driving up prices and keeping inventory low. Locally, the median renter household faced an affordability gap of $172,067 — meaning the median home price in the Houston area was more than $170,000 more than renters could afford.*

With a rapidly changing housing environment, Avenue addresses the shortage of affordable housing through the development of new affordable single and multi-family homes for purchase and rent.

Our goal is to develop sustainable homeowners who can build equity for their families with the help of the NeighborWorks Homeownership Center, whose offerings include homebuyer education, counseling and realty services, while at the same time revitalizing the communities around them.
