Staff Spotlight: Diane Jasso

What do you like most about Avenue?

I like the diversity of our team and that we are all working toward a common vision.

What do you find the most challenging at Avenue?

The larger we grow the less personal interactions we will have with other departments. It will be important that we find opportunities to have fun together.

What has been your proudest moment at Avenue?

There are two that come to mind. The first happened last year when I was shopping at HEB after work. I was wearing my Avenue polo shirt and I was stopped by a woman in the aisle. She asked if I worked for Avenue. I said that I did and she proceeded to tell me that she had worked with Avenue on different projects and that she had good experiences working with the board and staff. She wanted me to know that she loved the work we were doing in the community.  The second happened when we were building Avenue Center and the walls were going to be put up. Avenue’s staff was invited to sign their names on the exposed steel beams. I was proud to sign my name and the year. I’m not sure where it is now but I know that I am somewhere behind these walls.

Before working at Avenue, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I got my first job when I was 5 years old. I was hired by my neighbor Ms. Wilson to water her garden. That summer, I learned that good work has its rewards.
