Homebuyer Counseling

Counseling Process

We’re Here to Help You During the Homebuying Process – At No Cost

Counseling appointments are available either virtually with a counselor, in-person at the office or over the phone. Meet with an Avenue housing counselor to:

  • Review your finances
  • Review your budget and credit report
  • Determine your debt-to-income ratio and mortgage loan affordability
  • Explore your options for down payment assistance
  • Develop a personalized plan to be mortgage ready, including saving for closing costs, building, or improving your credit, paying down debt.
  • Several documents are required for this counseling, including two months of pay stubs.
Ongoing Homebuyer Counseling – At No Cost

Our counselors are here for you at no cost until you are mortgage ready and can be pre-approved for a home loan. Contact your housing counselor to schedule a follow-up meeting. After attending our homebuyer course and counseling, and you complete your action plan, we can review at least three lender options with you to help determine your preferred lender.
